Sortie ces jours ci en bd française d’une adaptation attendue de La Forteresse noire d’après le récit de F. Paul Wilson. Vous savez bien sûr combien l’adaptation cinéma de Michael Mann fut malmenée par le studio et son auteur, c’est pourquoi c’est F. Paul Wilson qui a lui-même œuvré sur cette bd.

Dans les années 1980, le roman The Keep, La Forteresse Noire, a été adapté au cinéma.
“Le résultat critique et commercial a été désastreux. Pourquoi? Parce que le film de Michael Mann n’a de mon roman que le nom. Cette B.D. va montrer, aussi bien aux fans du roman qu’aux profanes, ce qu’il aurait pu être… ce qu’il aurait dû être.”
25 ans après un film qu’il n’a jamais apprécié, F. Paul Wilson adapte lui-même le roman qui l’a révélé au grand public sous la forme d’un graphic novel.
Matthew Dow Smith (Hellboy, Supreme, Supernatural: Origins, Mirror’s Edge…) illustre ce classique de la terreur avec un trait stylisé, qui n’est pas sans rappeler un certain Mike Mignola.
Un album qui ravira tous les fans d’horreur!

Un peu de lecture pour le week-end
Les premiers tests du Blu-Ray de Heat confirment la présence d’un tout nouveau télécinéma HD pour le film, après dix ans d’un master décevant en dvd. Confirmation également du montage cinéma sur cette édition, après une jaquette un peu nébuleuse et une légère controverse sur la durée annoncée. Je vous en parlé ici et ici. Par contre, aucune trace d’un nouveau montage sur Public Enemies alors que les premiers éléments le laissaient entendre.
Un nouvel éditeur français vient de naître : Sheep Tapes. Derrière ce nom mystérieux se cache des membres de l’inestimable Nanarland.com. Plusieurs dvds sont en préparation et un blog vient de s’ouvrir pour suivre l’évolution de la production ainsi que d’en apprendre plus sur les ninjas.
1Kult propose de découvrir l’impressionnant planning 2010 de Wildside Video, avec les premiers Blu-Ray de la Shaw Brothers et une collection de films du domaine public, Vintage Classics, annoncés comme restaurés.
Le montage intégral du Metropolis de Fritz Lang, retrouvé l’année dernière, sera présenté en première mondiale au festival de Berlin en février prochain.
Rob Zombie annonce qu’il pourrait remonter Halloween 2 pour présenter un Director’s Cut avec comme principale différence, le personnage de Laurie Strode. Plus de détails sur Shocktillyoudrop.
Le 25 novembre sort Fight Club en Blu-Ray. Resetmag propose le détail des suppléments ainsi que les nouveaux bonus, mais cette édition sera surtout l’occasion de découvrir pour la première fois en France trois des quatre commentaires audios de l’édition dvd américaine, qui n’avaient pas franchi l’Atlantique lors de la sortie dvd. En France, nous n’avions eu droit qu’au commentaire audio avec David Fincher, Edward Norton, Brad Pitt et Helena Bonham carter.

Le site Divine Caroline revient sur plusieurs controverses concernant le racisme dans les dessins animés. Ce n’est pas franchement un secret que la firme de Walt Disney tente depuis quelques années d’atténuer certaines scènes de ses anciens films, retirant ce qui pourrait gêner aujourd’hui. L’article revient sur Fantasia, Peter Pan ainsi que sur la chanson d’ouverture d’Aladdin et cette phrase où le monde arabe est décrit comme un endroit « où l’on vous coupe l’oreille si on n’aime pas votre visage. C’est barbare mais c’est chez nous ». Suite au tollé suscité, la chanson fut modifiée par la suite. Mais voici ce à quoi ressemblait le morceau original. Dark Crystal : produits dérivés
On est sans grandes nouvelles de la suite de Dark Crystal actuellement en production mais la licence des studios Jim Henson est bel et bien active avec le lancement de plusieurs jouets et figurines sur le marché. Et un comics doit également sortir… Pas mal pour un film qui fut un échec commercial à sa sortie. Labyrinth, autre échec à l’époque, a droit au même traitement… sans oublier de nouvelles éditions dvd (une de + ?) en Zone 1 avec des nouveaux bonus.
Darkman contre l’armée des Ténèbres
A défaut d’une édition collector de Darkman que Universal tarde à nous offrir un jour en dvd, avec pourquoi pas le pilote de la série TV avorté et fait en 1992, Darkman le super-héros créé par Sam Raimi en 1990 revient sous la forme d’un comics en quatre épisodes depuis la fin août. Et quel meilleur adversaire que Ash, l’autre personnage créé par Sam Raimi dans les Evil Dead ? Cela s’appelle tout naturellement Darkman Vs. the Army of Darkness, et c’est écrit par Roger Stern, Kurt Busiek, et dessiné par James Fry. Les couvs sont de George Perez et sont doubles pour chaque numéro.

Comic-con 2006
Comme chaque année, le petit monde des comics, de la SF et de l’animation se retrouve au Comic-Con de San Diego pour des conférences, séances de dédicaces et previews des différents blockbusters cinéma et TV à venir.
L’édition 2006 démarre la semaine prochaine et outre les apparitions aussi prestigieuses d’acteurs comme Richard Hatch (Galactica 1978 et 2004), on devrait en apprendre davantage sur quelques projets DVD en cours ainsi que quelques documentaires en production (un sur Star Trek, l’autre sur les fans de Serenity et Firefly !).
Voici un petit panel des conférences qui auront lieu à partir de jeudi 20 juillet et jusqu’au dimanche 23, avec surtout jeudi les premières images officielles de Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut et des infos inédites sur la version longue de King Kong à venir.

Star Wars Day: Sculpting a Galaxy with Master Modelmaker Lorne Peterson— Lorne Peterson, one of the original members of Industrial Light & Magic, first went to work for George Lucas on the original Star Wars. Peterson’s new book, Sculpting a Galaxy, is scheduled for release in November. Come hear the master Modelmaker, with moderator Pablo Hidalgo.
Ray Harryhausen: King Kong and the Colorization of Merian C. Cooper’s She— Legendary visual effects artist Ray Harryhausen discusses his career and current projects (including the revitalization of She) with Mark Cotta Vaz, author of the Merian C. Cooper biography Living Dangerously: The Adventures of Merian C. Cooper, and Joe DeVito, creator/illustrator of Kong: King of Skull Island. Animation presents a sneak peek at Legion of Super Heroes, a new Superman-themed half-hour adventure series inspired by the DC Comics series and set to air Saturdays this fall at 11:00 AM ET/PT in the Kids’ WB! programming block on the new CW. Producers Linda M.
